May 20, 2013 Tornado Relief
Emrick’s Van & Storage in Oklahoma City, OK was not directly hit by the May 20, 2013 tornados. We could see the black cloud and hear the rumble of the damage as it was occurring. It was a very helpless feeling. The outpouring from Oklahoma was amazing. A few hours after the tornado hit,
the news stations began broadcasting that donations were pouring in and there were lines of cars a mile long. This is when we knew we could help.
We volunteered trucks and men to get the donations to the front line. One of our owner operators, Alex Yanto, took two truck-loads from News Channel 9 (CBS) to the local food bank. He is shown in the black Allied Jacket. We also worked with Crossings Community Church on two projects. We delivered over 1000 meals to three areas that were damaged. Lastly, Crossings church members filled two bobtails full of donations that we delivered to Moore, OK a few blocks from the damage.
We have given out around 200 boxes to those families that had a few things to salvage. Unfortunately, it began raining before most were given access to their homes to recover much.
As you can see from the pictures we have the help from our smallest movers as well.
